Trivia[]

  • The Gardner paintings are real, on March 18, 1990, thirteen works of art were stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Guards admitted two men posing as police officers responding to a disturbance call, and the thieves tied the guards up and looted the museum over the next hour. Of the thirteen pieces 5 are Paintings and 5 are Sketches(Degas) a postage stamp sized self portrait etching(Rembrandt) a French Imperial Eagle Finial valued at $100k(Kurt used it as a door stop) and a 12th century BC Chinese Gu valued at only a few thousand dollars(used for serving wine about 25 cm in height). One painting The Concert by Johannes Vermeer is valued at $250 million today half of the total value of $500 million of all 13 pieces. Authorities do not believe this was done by professionals because of the fact that they over looked much more valuable pieces and took less valuable ones and the haphazard way they treated the art while stealing it. There is a $10 million reward for the safe return of the Artwork. And the statute of limitations expired in 1995 so the thieves and anyone who participated in the theft cannot be prosecuted. To this date none of the works have been recovered.
    • In the episode it is mentioned that there are 11 paintings this is not exactly accurate though there are 5 Paintings 5 Sketches and 1 etching.
    • The Chinese Gu can be seen on the opposite side of the door from where Kurt picked up the French Imperial Eagle Finial that he used to prop open the door.
    • The Painting that gets a shotgun blast through the corner is The Concert by Vermeer Valued at $250 million which is half the total value of the stolen art.
    • Sho Ahktar asked to see one of the Degas Le Sortie de Pesage There are 5 Degas sketches worth under $100k combined.
