The Navy SEALs, are the U.S. Navy's primary special operations force and a component of the Naval Special Warfare Command. Among the SEALs' main function is to conduct small-unit maritime military operations that originate from, and return to, a river, ocean, swamp, delta, or coastline. The SEALs are trained to operate in all environments (Sea, Air, and Land) for which they are named.
All SEALs are male members of the United States Navy. The CIA's highly secretive Special Activities Division (SAD) and more specifically its elite Special Operations Group (SOG) recruits operators from the SEAL Teams. Joint Navy SEALs and CIA operations go back to the MACV-SOG during the Vietnam War. This cooperation still exists today and is seen in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

- « Patterson: If she was Navy, she'd be in our database.
Mayfair: Not if she was special ops. »
On NBC's Blindspot, the Navy SEALs are mentioned when it is discovered that the black square tattoo on Jane Doe's arm was made in order to cover her previous SEAL tattoo. This suggests that she was a member of the Navy SEALs; however, it hasn't been clarified and no other members have been mentioned or shown during the show.
