Chris and her husband, Nigel Thorton, lived in Afghanistan and helped with humanitarian causes.
Chris found a dying Remi on the woods after she escaped from a drone attack that killed her whole squad while they were on a mission. Regardless of her husband's reluctance on having a Navy SEAL soldier on their home, Chris decided to help Remi to get better. They both took her in and helped Remi recover during her healing process.
