Bill Weller was the father of Sarah and Kurt Weller, as well as the killer of Taylor Shaw.
Killing Taylor Shaw[]
About 25 years before the show's events, Bill accidentally killed Taylor and buried her body in an area of the woods a select few know.
He was the main suspect to Taylor's disappearance and murder. Though he never confessed, and criminal charges were dropped due to lack of evidence and the was police unable to find the corpse.
However, Bill was shunned by the town and his children as many believed he was indeed guilty. His son, Kurt, particularly held the most animosity and hatred towards him, which persisted into adulthood.
Death[]
Kurt's animosity towards Bill was in fact warranted, as just before dying of lung cancer, Bill confessed that he did indeed kill Taylor Shaw, even after meeting and hearing about Jane Doe herself.
